Avenue

(With Reference to individuals in front of a laptop/computer/mobile device)

We are all here. Again and Again. It has been fitted so so much into our system that we do not even take notice of it. We don't even think that it is harmful, or even if we do, it is too late; time is moving. Every letter I write here is several seconds of my life. Every word you read here is a few seconds of your life. Every post we see here represents a time of our lives.

What have we been doing with our lives?

Sure, curiosity killed the cat; but the cat died happily knowing what was going on. While I am not implying that being curious will get you killed, I am suggesting that curiosity is an irrevocably part of our lives. As young children, it would be odd to disagree with me when I say that we were all curious to know what our parents/siblings gave us on our birthdays.

Thus, curiosity led me to a community called Avenue. Being persuaded by my MTFF to like the page two weeks back, I thought it was just an ordinary Facebook page. However, it was not that simple.

Avenue shared interesting posts and pictures that stimulated a part of my mind. I felt that perhaps there is a greater meaning in life. It made me feel like we could escape from this way of life. It made me feel, unique.

The funny thing was, I completely forgot that today was Avenue's First Session. Receiving a text from my MTFF at 2am on a Friday gave me a pleasant surprise. With a little wit and wisdom from typical US films featuring adolescences escaping from home (and of course, the little logic that I have), I told my parents that I would be going to a workshop in Subang. Initially, I thought that my father would say "no", but instead he handed me his credit card so that I could fill gas for my car. What a relief man!

Reaching INTI was great; my navigational skills have definitely improved. When I walked in the room, the set up was so encouraging. Desks all at the back and only chairs in a circle. MTFF introduced me to Connie, Nat and Juan. Then I had a little small talk with Juan until Gwen announced the beginning of the first session. From that moment on, it was a path of no return.

The table talks exercise was funny and encouraging as people really spoke up about their views on the questions. One question that particularly touched me a lot was "am I the kind of friend that I want to be friends with?" because it got me thinking about how I treat my classmates.

I think we watched a few videos after that, with one involving a kiwi trying to fly and another one talking about how we are part of a comfort zone and a learning zone. The best part for me was the MINDCRAFT session though. It was so intriguing and really got me thinking about a lot of stuff. Stuff that will take me ages to find out.

But I know that Avenue will help me solve that problem; after all, it is a platform! :)
